How effective is Chiropractic care for headaches?

According to researchers at the Duke University Evidence Based Research Center in Durham, NC, chiropractic care is an effective treatment option for headaches that originate in the neck. These are called cervicogenic headaches. A panel of 25 multidisciplinary experts concluded that spinal manipulation (primary treatment option performed by Doctors of Chiropractic) resulted in almost immediate improvement for cervicogenic headaches. Spinal manipulation also has fewer side effects and longer lasting relief than a commonly prescribed medication. It is estimated that 30 percent of adults have more than one episode of cervicogenic headaches a month. Headaches result in a significant number of missed workdays each year and can have an untold negative impact on the personal lives of headache sufferers. The Duke University study validates the claims of thousands of Doctors of Chiropractic and chiropractic patients who have enjoyed relief from pain without the use of drugs.
