In the past two decades, cosmetic surgery of the face has become more and more popular. Patients are now seeking facial improvement as early as their thirties and forties, whereas once, these procedures were reserved for people aged fifty and over.
The correct time for any cosmetic surgery is not a specific age in years, but rather when the patient notices signs of aging, which can be corrected. Frequently, puffiness or sagginess in the eyelid region is noted in the early to mid thirties, and some patients seek correction at that time. Laxity in the neck and jowl region is most commonly noted in late forties to early fifties, however both men and women who develop problems in these areas frequently seek consultation at a much earlier time. Therefore the correct answer is that cosmetic surgery should be performed based on the appearance and concerns of the patient, and not the actual age in years.
